Sgt. Peter R. Cressman -  Baron 52

Sgt. Peter R. Cressman was killed in action on 5 February, 1973, when the EC-47 aircraft, call-sign Baron 52, on which he was serving as an Airborne Morse Systems Operator was downed by enemy fire over Laos.

Sgt. Cressman was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, on 23 May, 1951. He graduated from Indian Hills High School, Oakland, New Jersey, in 1969.

Sgt. Cressman enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on 28 August, 1969. He completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas and Morse Code Operator technical training at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. After technical training, Sgt. Cressman was assigned to the 6981st Security Group, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. On 21 June, 1972, he was assigned to Det 3, 6994th Security Squadron, Ubon RTAFB, Thailand.

Sgt. Cressman's awards and decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross (posthumously), Purple Heart (posthumously), and Air Medal - 1 Oak Leaf Cluster (posthumously).

On 16 July, 1996, a new dining hall at Goodfellow AFB, Texas, was named the Cressman Dining Facility in his honor.
