Detachment 1 of the 6994th Security Squadron moved from Nha Trang AB to Phu Cat AB on 9 September 1969 under the command of Major Merle Vernone.  Phu Cat AB was located in the Binh Dinh Province, about mid-way between An Khe and the coastal town of Qhi Nhon. The detachment operated out of Phu Cat Air Base from 10 September 1969 until it was deactivated on 31 Oct 1971.
